NASWC Bird Walk 03.04.07

Birds Observed on the NASWC Bird Walk.

  • Double-crested Cormorant - flock of about 40 heading west (and probably migrating north)
  • Sharp-shinned Hawk - We got great looks at this bird out in the open as it harassed a Red-shouldered Hawk and a Blue Jay.
  • Cooper's Hawk
  • Red-shouldered Hawk- At least two different birds were seen.
  • Killdeer
  • Greater Yellowlegs
  • Wilson's Snipe
  • White-winged Dove
  • Red-bellied Woodpecker
  • Eastern Phoebe
  • Blue Jay
  • American Crow
  • Black-crested Titmouse
  • Carolina Wren - Seen as well as heard. We finally got good looks at this usually hidden bird.
  • Bewick's Wren - hear only
  • Ruby-crowned Kinglet
  • American Robin
  • Northern Mockingbird
  • European Starling
  • American Pipit - A large flock of at least 50 birds was hanging around the Meadowheath parking log.
  • Cedar Waxwing - Seen drinking
  • Yellow-rumped Warbler
  • Field Sparrow
  • Song Sparrow
  • Dark-eyed Junco - Seen and heard. This bird rarely sings while it is still in Texas.
  • Northern Cardinal
  • Red-winged Blackbird
  • Common Grackle
