I'm a relative newcomer to this neighborhood but I've lived in Austin for 24 years and I've been an avid birder for about 15 years. Since I bought a house (my first) on Broadmeade a couple years ago I've been surprised and delighted by the diversity of bird life here. (Maybe you've seen me walking down Broadmeade or Stillforest with binoculars and notepad.) In an urban setting, birds are the easiest kind of wildlife to observe and enjoy, and I'm excited to promote awareness and knowledge of our local birds with this new column.
