Mosquitoes — “Fight the Bite”

West Nile Virus has been detected in a sample of mosquitoes near the Southwest Williamson County Regional Park (FM 1431 & CR 175).

Williamson County reminds residents to Fight the Bite:  the program that offers tips for avoiding mosquito bites with the 3 D approach:

  • DEFEND – use an EPA approved Insect Repellent
  • DRESS – Dress in long sleeves and pants when outside (especially at dawn & dusk)
  • DRAIN – Drain standing water around your home
(such as flower pots, pet dishes, and bird baths, outdoor toys), so mosquitoes don’t have a place to breed
  • Williamson County adds a fourth D to the list:  DUSK and DAWN – stay indoors
