2025 Scholarship!
How Can I Help?
What Can NASWC Do For ME?

The Doreen L. Scholtes Scholarship Award is available to high school students graduating from a public, private, or home school, as well as students already enrolled in higher education.  Funds are to be used to help with college, university, technical, or trade school expenses.

Students are a valuable part of the community and should be encouraged to value public participation in their neighborhoods and communities through volunteer service.

Since 2006, NASWC has committed funds to provide scholarships to neighborhood students by fostering promising young community leaders today and nurturing participation in volunteer work that improves our community now and in the future.

We are so glad you’re interested in applying for the Doreen L. Scholtes Scholarship Award!  Please carefully read ALL qualifications and application requirements before beginning your application.  Completed applications must be received by April 30, 2025, to be considered.

NASWC will be awarding one $1,160.00 scholarship in 2025.  We look forward to reading those amazing applications!

2025 Doreen L. Scholtes Scholarship Application

NASWC is the Neighborhood Association of Southwestern Williamson County. Our Association membership is dedicated to promoting the general welfare of the residents and resources as well as protecting property values. All of our work for the welfare of our community and the residents is done by community volunteers. All Officers, Board Members, and Committee Members are volunteers.

Help Us Help You!

  • Become a member of the Board – to attend monthly meetings and conduct the business of the Association.  Meetings are the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Jollyville Fire Station on Anderson Mill Road
  • Hospitality for the Quarterly Meetings – Provide snacks and set-up/clean-up for meetings (reimbursement available)
  • NASWC Signs – Help with putting out quarterly meeting signs and yearly NNO signs (you can take a meeting sign to post in your yard/nearby corner a few days before Quarterly Meetings).
  • Zoning Change & Site Plan Notices from the City of Austin – Review online documentation on the city’s website; determine if NASWC has Restrictive Covenants with property owners; follow-up as needed with Agent or the city’s case manager.
  • Audit Committee – Serve on ad hoc committee to audit NASWC records.
  • Scholarship Committee – review applications for the annual Doreen L. Sholtes Scholarship Award.

Membership in NASWC offers several benefits, including discounted trash and recycling services; NASWC News & Notes, our e-announcements and reminders; membership availability in three local credit unions; and active participation in zoning, new development in our area, safety concerns, and growth issues which affect your property values and standard of living.

We are glad you are our neighbor! We certainly live in a great neighborhood. Not already a member of NASWC? Here are some reasons to consider joining:

  • We have a special lower-rate, members-only contract with Republic Services for residential waste, recycling, and bulk item pick-up. Our members can participate in this contract if they do not live in an area serviced by the City of Austin or a MUD district disposal service.
  • We award a $1,000+ scholarship each year to a high school student graduating from a public, private, or home school, as well as students already enrolled in higher education. Funds are to be used to help with college, university, technical, or trade school expenses. Eligibility is for children or grandchildren residing with a current NASWC member. Completed applications must be received by April 30th.
  • We email announcements of events, programs, alerts, and reminders to our members via Constant Contact.
  • We maintain this website, www.naswc.org, which is filled with community information and links.
  • We work with both Williamson County and the city of Austin on zoning and development issues.
  • Since 1998, we have nurtured an excellent relationship with the area police, the Sheriff’s department, and our County Commissioner’s office. And more recently, the Jollyville Fire Department.
  • We work to uphold the restrictive covenants and deed restrictions in the community.

We are ALL volunteers and your neighbors.  We are not a Municipal Utility District nor an HOA.  No company or person has been hired to do this work.
